In the heart of Milan a disused space in a eighteenth century building is transformed into a contemporary craft workshop. Daniela De Marchi is a jewelry designer with a sensitive and very personal language. Her creations unfold a strong attraction for surfaces corroded by time. Her shapes are organic, inspired by nature.
Thus – expressing the same idea of layering and natural accidentality – the project superimposes just few essential features to the existing context establishing a dialogue. Through a predominant greige color, the natural light transforms the space during the day. The walls act as a sensitive skin shifting from pale beige to dark gray with shades of brown and purple. Additionally the design of furniture and displays is inspired by industrial workbenches where the visual and tactile qualities of oxidized iron provide the exhibition frame.
At the entrance are staged the workmanship and craftsmanship – the place where materials and forms are experienced – meanwhile in the vaulted central sale area a floating installation of branches and dead leaves acts as a powerful narrative element. It informs us that in this place design echoes time and the adaptability of life.
