The Agora

“The agora - a gathering place in ancient Greece - is a strategic reference in Royal Ceramica’s world, and welcoming, meeting and conversing with clients were essential requirements of the space. In addition to the open aspects of the platform where visitors could view product offerings, there was a semi-secluded seating area that took the shape of an ellipsoidal lounge area, enveloped by a metallic-bronze curtain with its centre marked by a huge chandelier made from copper tubing. The curtain, made of 3 km of metal chain, was solid enough to create a clear and indisputable boundary and simultaneously light enough to encourage people to enter. From afar, the elegantly draping jellyfish-like installation acquired a solid form, characterized by shining and shimmering movement. The subtle sound produced from the curtain movement added a sensual highlight that visitors experienced within the space.”
